Misinformation, Manipulation & Synthetic Media

The digital world has always contained misinformation, scams and misleading content. Today, artificial intelligence has made it easier than ever to create convincing images, videos, voices and stories that can be difficult to recognise as false. This module helps families understand how digital manipulation works and why developing strong judgement is more important than ever. Together, you'll explore misinformation, disinformation, deepfakes, AI-generated images, manipulated videos, cloned voices, online scams, emotional manipulation and the growing challenges of distinguishing fact from fiction. You'll also learn about emerging issues such as AI "nudification", image misuse, sextortion, recommendation algorithms and why children and young people are increasingly being targeted by sophisticated online manipulation. Rather than encouraging fear, this module focuses on curiosity, critical thinking and practical decision-making. Healthy Digital Habits, Wellbeing and Balance

Digital wellbeing is about much more than counting screen time. This module helps families understand how technology can affect attention, sleep, mood, confidence, friendships, family routines and everyday behaviour. Rather than framing digital life as something to fear or constantly restrict, it focuses on helping children aged 8–16 build healthier habits, stronger self-awareness and better balance. Together, families will explore why apps, games and platforms are designed to hold attention, how online comparison can affect confidence, why sleep and downtime matter, and how to recognise when digital life may be causing stress or distress. The module also supports parents in creating calm, realistic routines that work for their own household rather than relying on one-size-fits-all rules. The aim is not perfection. It is to help families notice patterns, talk openly, make thoughtful adjustments and build habits that support wellbeing both online and offline. By the end of this module, your family will have practical tools for managing digital routines, recognising pressure points, protecting rest and attention, and creating a healthier relationship with technology as children grow.

Staying Safe Online

Being safe online is about far more than using strong passwords or avoiding strangers. Today's digital world includes social media, gaming, AI, messaging apps, scams, misinformation, privacy risks and increasingly sophisticated forms of online manipulation. Children and teenagers need practical judgement, not fear, to navigate these challenges confidently. In this module, families will explore the everyday situations that can place children at risk online and learn simple, realistic ways to respond. You'll discuss privacy, scams, online grooming, cyberbullying, sextortion, AI-generated content, digital footprints, misinformation and what to do when something doesn't feel right. Rather than focusing on worst-case scenarios, the lessons encourage calm conversations, critical thinking and the confidence to ask for help when needed. The aim is to help families build practical habits that support safer decisions, stronger communication and greater resilience in an increasingly connected world. By the end of this module, you'll have a clearer understanding of today's online risks, know how to recognise warning signs, and feel better equipped to respond together as a family.

Amanda Cunningham

Amanda Cunningham

I’m Amanda Cunningham, founder of Savvy Pixel®.

Savvy Pixel® began with a simple question:

How do we raise thoughtful, digitally capable human beings in an AI-enabled world?

I ask that as a parent, a grandparent and a digital professional.

For more than 16 years, I have worked in digital communication, social media, marketing and business development, helping people understand how technology shapes trust, behaviour and decision-making.

More recently, I have spent thousands of hours studying and working with AI — not just as a tool, but as a major shift in how we live, learn, communicate and make decisions.

What concerns me most is not technology itself.

It is that children are growing up in a digital environment that is becoming increasingly complex, persuasive and AI-enabled, while many adults feel they are expected to guide that world without a map.

Savvy Pixel Digital Life was created to help change that.

This membership is not about panic, blame or trying to keep up with every new app.

It is about helping families build something more lasting: shared language, critical thinking, digital judgement and practical confidence.

Inside Savvy Pixel Digital Life, families explore misinformation, AI, social media, online influence, digital wellbeing and healthy boundaries through practical activities, real-world scenarios and guided conversations.

No membership can guarantee that a young person will never encounter harmful, misleading or upsetting content online.

But with the right tools, conversations and judgement, families do not have to start from scratch every time something new appears.

As your family continues through Savvy Pixel Digital Life, you will keep building a practical toolkit, a repeatable decision-making framework and the confidence to have better conversations when digital challenges arise.

Technology will keep changing.

That is exactly why judgement matters.

If you are ready to replace uncertainty with confidence, I would love to welcome your family.
